We have seen some greatest batsmen in the history of cricket we have seen Class,aggression and timing from them we can't discuss all of them.But we will talk about the top five batsmen of modern era irrespective of ranking as well we will rate them when they score how they score and where they score.
Let's start the proceding as well.
1.Steve Smith
There are a lot of great players of the game but to me the no.1 test player is Steve Smith.Now he has slipped from no.1 in ICC ranking to no.2 but he is great player of test cricket with his humongous average of 60 in test cricket.He faced the ban of one year in 2018 but his comeback was remarkable.He is just great in his home conditions,in England and in Asia as well so he is a complete and compact player and he always scores when the team needed him.So to me he is the no.1 test player of modern era.
2.Kane Williamson
People will be surprised why Williamson is no.2 instead of Virat Kohli but I will explain you. He is no.1 test batsman in ICC ranking.He has done a lot of hard work to get that position especially in last 2 to 3 years he has been phenomenal.In his home conditions he is just flawless in his batting style he always gets runs when it matters the most and one important thing about his batting when he is set he always goes for big runs he doesn't want to lose wicket at any stage of the game.His style of play is so good to watch as he always wants to play the ball really late.To me he is no.2 in test cricket right now.
3.Virat Kohli
Indian captain Virat Kohli is the superstar of the game he is the someone who has changed the completely with his style of play.He is just phenomenal throughout his career but from last 1.5 year to 2 years he hasn't been upto the mark he couldn't get his hundred in almost 2 years.He hasn't been in good touch but he has gotten runs at every where and that's why I rated him at no.3 in best batsmen in world right now.I think he will come on the top very soon because he is really committed person and want to be the best.
4.Joe Root
English skipper Joe Root is also one of the best of the game he has been the great servant of the game for his side but his consistency has not been upto the mark especially after becoming the captain.He is so good to play the ball very late and his style of play is really good as he always looks to play the ball with soft hands.His conversion rate is not good as compare to others.That's why I rate him as no.4 in top test batsmen.
5.Dimuth Karunaratne
Everybody will be surprise with this name Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Krunaratne because there are a lot of players like Marnus Labuchagne and Babar Azam but I will go with him.Now I will justify his place at 5th position.Marnus Labuchagne has just played a single away test series which was against England and he was great out there and he hasn't played in Asian conditions so we haven't seen his full abilities of him and with Babar Azam is the same case because he has just scored one away hundred which was against Australia in Australia but after that his performance has not been upto the mark. On the other hand Dimuth Krunaratne has been great for his side he has been great in test cricket because he is really consistent with his performance and going really good as well.That's why I put him in 5th position in top test batsmen in the world.
