Rise of Pakistan cricket and downfall of Team India

 1st of all congratulations to all Pakistan's fans around the world because after a long time Pakistani cricketers are among the winners of ICC Awards. We can say that this is the new era of Pakistan cricket where they have covered all bases and now heading towards the heights. 

Pakistan captain Babar Azam was named as ODI Player of the year. He has played just 6 ODIs but those were enough to prove his worth and class. He is currently the no. 1 batter in the world.

Muhammad Rizwan won the ICC T20 Player of the year award. That was an unbelievable year for him as a batsman and he is a prime example of dedication, hard work, and focus. He scored the most runs in International T20s and scored most T20 runs overall also. We should thank Misbah ul Haq also to asking him to open against New Zealand and that changed the dimensions of his career.

Rizwan,Babar and Shaheen

Another member of the Pakistan cricket team Shaheen Shah Afridi won the cricketer of the year award. He is the 1st Pakistani player to win that award. He is just phenomenal across all formats of the game and he is unplayable with the new ball in his hand. We have seen that against India on 24th October where he was just unstoppable. After the 2019 World Cup Pakistan cricket was going downwards and was in the worst situation. But after just 2 years all the algorithm has changed.3 to 4 players are at their peak and winning the matches individually which is a good sign for the cricket of Pakistan. I think this is the best chance for them to sneak at least one ICC Trophy to make themselves a bigger star and a bigger brand because it's the mega-events that make you the global star.

So now the biggest series Pakistan Vs Australia is coming and this is a huge opportunity for Pakistani players to make their mark against a mighty Aussies.

English Captain Joe Root was named the Test Cricketer of the year. He scored the most runs 1708  in this format last year but his team struggled a lot in this form of the game. But he was in breathtaking form but he couldn't get a hundred in the Ashes.

The downfall of Team India

After the defeat in the Test series, India also lost the ODI series against South Africa. This is a huge boost for the cricket of South Africa because after the retirement of their greats. People were thinking that things will be worse for them and their condition could be like West Indies and Sri Lanka but hats off to their management and their players. They have played some outclass cricket to beat one of the best teams in cricket. This is a huge setback for India.

Now talk about the weakness of team India 

Middle Order 

India has played some stunning red-ball cricket and they were really successful in this format under the captaincy of Virat Kohli but in ODIs, they weren't at their best.

They have lost their last 3 away ODI series which were against New Zealand, Australia, and now a clean sweep against South Africa.

One of the biggest reasons in these 3 series is India's middle-order misery. They are struggling to find good players at no. 4 and no. 5 after Yuvraj and Dhoni. These are very important positions because if top-order collapse then you have to face fast bowlers in their rhythm if top-order scores run then you have to play against spinners and then need to finish the game also. India has tried some players at these positions like KL Rahul, Iyer, Pandya, Pant, Samson, and now Suryakumar. Rahul and Pandya were good against Australia and New Zealand but now Pandya wasn't available and Rahul went to the top order and then the struggle started again.

Out of 3, they have collapsed 2 times and that cost them a series. So India needs to sort out this as quickly as possible because the 2023 World Cup is not far away and they have many questions to answers.

Lack of Wicket takers in Middle Overs

This is the inverse story for them because their middle order not scoring runs and their bowlers are not getting enough wickets in middle overs. For this reason, they got Ashwin back on the side but he also couldn't find the solution. India got 4 wickets in 1st ODI, 3 in 2nd ODI and they got all 10 wickets in 3rd match. On the other side 2 times, India got almost all out when they were chasing the target so that was a big difference between both sides. Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav were brilliant when Dhoni was around but after his retirement, they both struggled a lot and have been in and out of the team also. So they have to solve this problem also in ODIs in the future.

Lack of Big Runs 

We have seen over the years that Indian batsmen always like to score big runs. They don't stop at 50 or even 100 also they always want to go big to put their team in the driving seat. But in recent times we haven't seen that also Rohit is not in the team, Virat is not getting 100 and Shikhar is also getting out in the 50s which is absolutely unacceptable. You always need big innings from the top order batter and sometimes need to finish the game also but a top-order batsman getting out after scoring 50 then it will put pressure on the middle order and that could result in a collapse which we have seen in the last series. 

So time is still left and we have to see how things go further when Rohit will take charge and that would be the start of the preparation of India for the next World Cup.
